About Us

Church Profile

Does not wisdom cry out? . . . Beside the gates leading into the city, at the entrances, she cries aloud. Proverbs 8: 1a and 3

History: City’s Gate PCA formed in 1997 in response to the vision of several couples who felt led by God to start a church within the city limits of Harrisburg. The early mission of the church was to interact with city residents during daily life and cultural events, such as open mic nights, poetry readings, etc. There was also an emphasis on establishing prayer cells in city neighborhoods. The goal was for members to love their neighbors and allow Christ to work through them to spiritually revitalize the city. This focus has broadened since the inception of the church, but there remains a strong emphasis on developing relationships and meeting diaconal needs both within the congregation and throughout Harrisburg and the surrounding communities.

Welcome to the City's Gate

Welcome to the website of The City’s Gate Presbyterian Church—a vibrant, friendly church located in the city of Harrisburg, PA.  We encourage you to get to know us by perusing our site and by joining us for worship on Sunday morning at 10am.   At our church there are a variety of ways to serve Christ and our community and to make some great friends along the way.  You might consider the four main areas of service in our church: worship, fellowship, outreach and teaching. Each area is led by an elder and has a dedicated page on this site.  Please feel free to contact any elder to learn more about The City’s Gate.  Enjoy your visit!

Pastoral Search Committee Announcement

07/20/2008 - 10:00pm
07/20/2008 - 11:00pm

To the City's Gate Congregation,

As a follow-up to the pastoral recommendation by the Pastoral Search Committee, we've listed below the dates and events associated with Jed Slaboda's pastoral candidacy. Included here is a link to a audio recording of the announcement unedited, and the document introducing Jed and his family passed out Sunday morning. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact any member of the committee. The decision before us is a momentous one for the future of City's Gate, and for that reason the search committee wants to encourage everyone to make time to meet Jed and his family during one of their August visits. We also want to call everyone to a time of regular, fervent prayer over the next six weeks as we move towards a decision, asking God for wisdom, guidance, and a spirit of unity.
