Community Flower Gardening Project with Friends fo Midtown

06/28/2008 - 8:00am
06/28/2008 - 12:00pm

WHERE: The Empty Lot at 4th and Calder Streets

WHY: Beautification of an area that has long been in need of some positive attention. This project is being organized by the Verbeke-Reily Neighborhood Watch group.

A professional landscape artist will be there to help us make a pretty design filled with flowers and shrubs while the rest is left with grass and a bench for sitting and enjoying the garden.

"Many hands make light work."

So, please bring your spades, rakes and other gardening tools and join us as we help the Verbeke-Reily Neighborhood Watch group turn a city eyesore into a peaceful place of beauty.

Besides many hands, some items that are needed for Saturday are:

  • A rototiller (borrowed or $65 to rent one from Tru Value)
  • Someone with a truck to take us to pick up free mulch from HACC Wildwood
  • Campus (this can happen on Thursday or Friday afternoon/evening)
  • Donated sun-loving perennials and shrubs (or about $75 to purchase perennials)

Any questions regarding this project should go to Friends of Midtown.
